Where it came from
The Magic Origins Checklist card was released in 2015 as part of the Magic: The Gathering Magic Origins expansion. Checklist cards were introduced by Wizards of the Coast to help players track double-faced cards in their decks, as these cards have different backs than standard cards and would be easily identifiable without opaque sleeves. This particular checklist was designed to organize the set's double-faced Planeswalker cards, which depicted the origin stories of key characters.
The design follows the functional, minimalist aesthetic characteristic of utility cards in the game. It was created by the internal design team at Wizards of the Coast to balance clarity with the visual identity of the Magic Origins set. While these cards are purely functional rather than aesthetic, they are collected by enthusiasts who value completeness in their sets or who appreciate the niche history of card design mechanics within the game.
