The Modern Masters 2017 printing, numbered 100 in the set, serves as a functional reprint intended to provide players with access to staple cards within the Modern format. Its inclusion in this set was part of a larger initiative by Wizards of the Coast to support the health of the competitive card pool by reissuing high-utility spells with updated frames.

The artwork featured on this iteration maintains the iconic depiction of pyromantic energy, first illustrated by Anthony S. Waters.
