Provenance

Where it came from

The Mana Cannons Art Series card was released in 2022 as part of the Dominaria United set. These cards were produced as collectible art prints, packaged as non-playable bonus items within Magic: The Gathering booster packs. The series was designed to showcase the intricate, large-scale illustrations created for the main expansion, providing collectors with a focused look at the world-building aesthetics of Dominaria without the clutter of gameplay text or card borders.

The illustration for this piece was crafted by artist Caio Monteiro. In depicting the Mana Cannons, Monteiro aimed to emphasize the industrial and arcane fusion central to the setting’s technological history. The work was well-received by fans of the franchise for its atmospheric lighting and sense of scale, contributing to the broader goal of the Art Series to elevate the illustrative work of Magic: The Gathering to a standalone artistic format.
