Shanid, Sleepers' Scourge // Shanid, Sleepers' Scourge

Shanid, Sleepers' Scourge is a character from the Magic: The Gathering expansion Dominaria United, released in 2022. The set marked the return of the game to its foundational plane, focusing on the defense of Dominaria against a Phyrexian invasion. Shanid appears here as part of the Art Series, a specialized subset designed to showcase the intricate illustrations from the set on larger, borderless cards that serve as high-quality collector items.

The artwork for this card was created by artist Titus Lunter, who has contributed numerous pieces to the Magic: The Gathering catalog. Lunter's design for Shanid emphasizes the character's role as a legendary knight of the Benalish tradition, utilizing a visual language that blends regal heraldry with the gritty, desperate aesthetic typical of the war-torn era depicted in the expansion. Upon its release, the card was well-received by players and collectors for its evocative portrayal of a minor character thrust into a pivotal moment in Dominarian lore.
