Manaweft Sliver // Manaweft Sliver

The Manaweft Sliver originates from the Commander Masters Art Series, a collection of oversized cards released in 2023 to celebrate the long-running format of Magic: The Gathering. This specific card reimagines a creature type first introduced in the 2002 Legions expansion, where Slivers were characterized by their hive-mind mechanics and distinct, insectoid silhouettes. The Art Series cards serve as high-fidelity showcases for the game's illustration department, stripping away the complex rules text to focus entirely on the artistic direction of the piece.

The illustration was crafted to highlight the ethereal, color-shifting nature of the Slivers, which are canonically known for sharing biological traits across the entire collective. By focusing on the interplay of light and anatomy, the artist emphasizes the creature's status as a conduit for mana, reflecting the card's ability to tap for any color. Upon release, the set was well-received by players and art enthusiasts who sought to display these larger-format cards as standalone pieces of fantasy illustration.
