Meria's Outrider // Meria's Outrider

Meria's Outrider is a card from the Dominaria United Art Series, a promotional collection released by Wizards of the Coast in 2022 to showcase the individual illustrations from the core Dominaria United set. These cards were distributed via Art Series booster packs, which were intended for collectors rather than competitive play. The series served to highlight the detailed world-building and character design central to the Magic: The Gathering franchise, moving away from the game's mechanical focus to emphasize the aesthetic contributions of its freelance illustrators.

The artwork for this specific card was commissioned to depict an outrider serving the character Meria, a key figure in the return to the plane of Dominaria. The design reflects the art direction of the set, which aimed to evoke a sense of nostalgia for the game’s original setting while incorporating modern digital illustration techniques. The series was received as a positive addition for players who value high-quality concept art and the inclusion of artist signatures, which are printed directly on the front of each card to offer a more personal connection to the creative process.
