Where it came from
Michiko Konda, Truth Seeker was originally printed as a rare legendary creature in the 2005 Magic: The Gathering expansion Champions of Kamigawa. Designed by the development team at Wizards of the Coast, the card reflects the set's heavy inspiration from Japanese folklore and Shinto mythology, depicting a central figure in the plane's overarching narrative who seeks to restore balance after the upheaval caused by the spirit wars.
The 2022 Jumpstart iteration, illustrated by artist Igor Kieryluk, serves as a thematic inclusion within a set designed for streamlined, accessible play. Kieryluk’s aesthetic for this version leans into the high-fantasy tradition of the game, emphasizing the character's regal and protective presence. It is regarded by collectors as a functional reprint that honors the card's original mechanical identity while introducing it to a new generation of players through the Jumpstart format's unique randomized deck-building structure.
