Where it came from
Mightstone's Animation is a card released in the 2022 Magic: The Gathering set, The Brothers' War. The set serves as a narrative retelling of the conflict between the brothers Urza and Mishra, pivotal figures in the game's long-standing lore. The card depicts the magical process of animating constructs using the power of the Mightstone, one of the two legendary Powerstones that fueled the brothers' massive war machines.
The artwork for the piece was created by artist Livia Prima, who rendered the vibrant, arcane energy involved in the animation process. The design is intended to reflect the set's focus on artifact-centric mechanics and the industrial, steampunk-inspired aesthetic of the ancient conflict. It was received as a functional tool for Limited play, emphasizing the set's broader mechanical theme of utilizing artifacts to enhance board presence.
