Mirror Image

This set was designed to reintroduce the core mechanics of the game to newer players while providing staple cards for various formats. Mirror Image serves as a classic 'clone' effect, a staple archetype in the blue color identity that allows a player to replicate a creature already on the battlefield, reflecting the game's long-standing interest in versatility and mimicry.

The artwork for this card was commissioned by artist Svetlin Velinov, a long-time contributor to the game. Velinov utilized his signature high-contrast, atmospheric style to capture the magical essence of duplication. By depicting a spectral, shimmering figure emerging from a pool, he emphasized the card's function as an illusionary copy. The design was received as a straightforward, functional inclusion for limited and casual play, adhering to the traditional mechanical space occupied by previous iterations of copy-creature spells.
