Mirrored Depths

Mirrored Depths is a phenomenon card released as part of the Planechase Anthology in 2016. The set was designed to consolidate and re-release the mechanics and cards from the previous Planechase series, a format that emphasizes multiplayer chaos by introducing planar cards that modify the rules of the game. Phenomenon cards were introduced in the 2012 Planechase expansion as single-use events that trigger when a player planeswalks onto them, essentially acting as a surprise environmental shift before the card is placed on the bottom of the planar deck.

The artwork for Mirrored Depths was created by Daarken, a frequent illustrator for Magic: The Gathering who often leans into dark fantasy and ethereal aesthetics. The design captures the disorienting, reflective nature of the card's effect, which allows a player to reveal cards from their library and put a creature onto the battlefield. It was received by the community as a useful, high-impact tool for Commander and casual multiplayer formats, valued for its ability to generate sudden board presence.
