Mister Immortal

Mister Immortal, born Craig Hollis, first appeared in the 1989 one-shot 'West Coast Avengers', created by writer John Byrne. As the leader of the Great Lakes Avengers, he is defined by his unique power of true immortality, which manifests through his inability to die permanently, rather than the avoidance of injury. His design reflects the late eighties aesthetic of non-traditional, often comedic superhero archetypes, emphasizing his somewhat tragic and weary status as a hero who has seen the end of time.

This specific card hails from the Marvel Super Heroes Commander set, a collection focused on highlighting the diverse ranks of the Marvel Universe beyond the primary A-list icons. It was produced to provide a comprehensive catalog of the publisher's deep bench of characters, featuring art that leans into the classic house style of the era. The set is appreciated by collectors for its commitment to representing these niche figures, ensuring that even those with the most unusual powers remain part of the broader comic book narrative.
