Where it came from
The Wild Pack Squad card is a component of the Marvel Super Heroes Commander set, released during a period when trading card companies were heavily capitalizing on the expansive lore of Marvel Comics. This specific subset was designed to highlight the tactical and military-aligned teams within the Marvel Universe, emphasizing the gritty, mercenary aesthetic that became increasingly popular in comic art throughout the early 1990s.
The card features artwork consistent with the house style of the era, focusing on dynamic poses and high-contrast color palettes intended to pop on high-gloss card stock. The Wild Pack, led by Silver Sable, represents a niche corner of Marvel’s mercenary operations, and the card's inclusion serves as a testament to the brand's efforts to catalog even the secondary and tertiary paramilitary organizations that populated the interconnected Spider-Man and X-Men titles of the time.
