Where it came from
Monstrous Rage was released in 2025 as a promotional card through the Wizards Play Network, a program designed to support local game stores by incentivizing in-store play. This specific printing features unique frame treatments that distinguish it from the card's original debut in the Wilds of Eldraine set. These promotional initiatives are crafted to foster community engagement and reward players who participate in sanctioned tournament events.
The card was illustrated by Wisnu Tan, who has contributed extensively to the visual identity of the Magic: The Gathering franchise. In his depiction of the spell, the artist focuses on the visceral transformation of a creature into a formidable beast, utilizing dynamic lighting and aggressive brushwork to convey the surge of power inherent in the card's mechanics. The design language aligns with the high-fantasy aesthetic typical of the Eldraine setting, balancing traditional sorcery tropes with a distinct, modern illustration style.
