Card face

What it does

Whenever one or more other creatures die, draw a card. This ability triggers only once each turn.

"It's hardly a crime to take gear that's lying around without an owner. The crime part is where I make sure it doesn't have an owner."

Provenance

Where it came from

Morbid Opportunist is a card released as part of the Magic: The Gathering Fallout Commander set in 2024. The card is a reprint of a creature originally introduced in the Innistrad: Midnight Hunt expansion, repurposed here to fit the post-apocalyptic, scavenging-focused themes of the Fallout universe. The design centers on the mechanic of drawing cards whenever another creature dies, effectively capturing the survivalist nature of characters navigating the wasteland.

The artwork for this specific version was crafted to align with the retro-futuristic aesthetic of the Fallout franchise. By emphasizing the themes of decay and resourcefulness, the illustration aims to translate the core gameplay function of the original card into the visual language of the Vault-Tec aesthetic. It was received as a functional and thematic staple within the set, providing players with necessary card advantage in strategies that sacrifice units for tactical gain.
