Mox Emerald

The Mox Emerald was originally released in 1993 as part of the Alpha set for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game, designed by Richard Garfield. It was famously categorized as one of the 'Power Nine,' a group of cards widely considered the most powerful and influential in the game's history due to their ability to provide mana acceleration at no cost. This 30th Anniversary Edition printing serves as a commemorative tribute, reproducing the iconic original artwork by Dan Frazier while utilizing a distinct card back to signify its status as a non-tournament legal collectible.

The design of the Mox Emerald remains true to the minimalist aesthetic of the early 1990s, characterized by the simple, elegant illustration of the jewel set against a lush, forest-green background. While the original cards were intended for standard play, the 30th Anniversary Edition was produced in 2022 to celebrate three decades of the franchise. It was received with significant interest by the collector community, serving as a high-quality facsimile for those who appreciate the historical significance of the original cards but acknowledge the prohibitive rarity and cost of the authentic 1993 versions.
