Myr Enforcer

Myr Enforcer was originally released in the 2003 Mirrodin expansion, designed by the Magic: The Gathering development team to explore artifact-heavy gameplay mechanics. The card features the 'affinity for artifacts' keyword, which reduces its mana cost based on the number of artifacts the player controls. This design choice proved highly influential, as it encouraged aggressive, fast-paced deck builds that became a cornerstone of the competitive meta-game during the Mirrodin block era.

The Friday Night Magic promotional version, released in 2009, features unique foil treatment and updated frame aesthetics characteristic of the era's organized play rewards. The original illustration, provided by artist Dave Dorman, depicts the enforcer as a hulking, metallic automaton, aligning with the industrial and metallic aesthetic of the plane of Mirrodin. This specific printing was awarded to participants of local game store tournaments to incentivize regular community engagement and competitive play.
