Where it came from
Nadu, Winged Wisdom was introduced in the 2024 expansion Modern Horizons 3, a Magic: The Gathering set designed specifically for the Modern format. Created by Wizards of the Coast, this card features a unique ability that allows players to untap creatures whenever they are targeted by spells or abilities, a mechanic that quickly drew attention for its potential to generate massive card advantage in competitive play.
The card's artwork, which depicts the bird-like entity in a vibrant, ethereal style, contributes to the distinctive aesthetic of the Modern Horizons 3 promotional series. Upon its release, Nadu became a focal point of discussion within the community due to its power level and the complex, game-warping interactions it facilitated in tournament settings, ultimately leading to its restriction in various formats.
