Where it came from
Nahiri, Forged in Fury was released in 2023 as part of the March of the Machine: The Aftermath set, a mini-expansion designed to resolve the narrative fallout following the Phyrexians' failed invasion of the Multiverse. This card depicts the Kor lithomancer during a period of transition, reflecting the physical and emotional scars left by her actions in the previous story arcs. It serves as a narrative focal point for how characters cope with the wreckage of the war, grounding her character design in a aesthetic of resilience and reconstruction.
The card was designed by Wizards of the Coast as a legendary creature card that mechanically emphasizes her identity as a smith and stone-shaper. Illustrators worked to capture a tone of somber determination, stripping away the grand artifice of her previous incarnations to focus on her raw power. Upon its release, players and lore enthusiasts noted the card's distinctive playstyle, which rewards the player for aggressive equipment-based strategies, consistent with her established lore as a master of artifacts.
