Needleverge Pathway // Pillarverge Pathway

Needleverge Pathway // Pillarverge Pathway was first released in the 2020 Magic: The Gathering set Zendikar Rising. As part of a cycle of dual lands designed to provide efficient mana fixing for multi-colored decks in the Standard format, these cards represented a significant mechanical shift by allowing players to choose their color production upon playing the card, rather than relying on traditional land types. The art was commissioned to evoke the crystalline, shifting landscapes of the Zendikar plane, emphasizing the planar architecture that defines the set’s aesthetic.

This specific iteration originates from 'The List', a curated selection of cards from throughout Magic: The Gathering's history that appear randomly in Set Boosters. By including this dual land in The List, Wizards of the Coast ensured wider availability for a staple utility card that had become essential for competitive deck-building. It is a functional reprint that maintains the design intent of the original release, focusing on providing players with flexible land options while preserving the visual identity established by the Zendikar Rising art direction.
