Nesting Grounds

Nesting Grounds, identified as collector number 121 in the Edge of Eternities: Stellar Sights expansion, emerged during a transitional period for the game's world-building phase. It was designed to emphasize the theme of celestial colonization, reflecting a narrative shift toward players establishing footholds in uncharted, extraterrestrial environments. The art was commissioned to evoke a sense of quiet discovery, moving away from the high-conflict aesthetics common in earlier sets to focus on the ecological tranquility of cosmic landscapes.

The design process for this card prioritized atmospheric world-building, with the illustration team utilizing a color palette meant to contrast the harshness of the void with the organic textures of alien flora. Upon release, the card was well-received by players who favored utility-based deck construction, as its mechanics offered a strategic advantage in resource management. It remains a staple for collectors who appreciate the lore-heavy design language established during the Stellar Sights release period.
