Where it came from
Nissa, Vital Force was released as a special promotional card for the 2018 San Diego Comic-Con as part of a five-card set featuring prominent Magic: The Gathering Planeswalkers. This specific printing was created to coincide with the event's exclusivity, catering to collectors who value unique, limited-run variants of popular game cards.
The card features distinct artwork by artist Aleksi Briclot, who utilized a bold, monochromatic aesthetic with stark white-on-black ink styling. This design choice was intended to offer a stylized, artistic departure from the standard set art, emphasizing the character's connection to nature through a minimalist and high-contrast lens that became a hallmark of the SDCC exclusive series.
