Where it came from
Nomad Outpost was first printed in the Khans of Tarkir set in 2014, designed as part of a cycle of tri-lands to support the wedge-colored factions of the Tarkir plane. It was later reprinted in the Commander 2016 preconstructed deck titled Stalwart Unity, which focused on the four-color identity of the Breya, Etherium Shaper deck. This land card provides flexibility for players utilizing red, white, and black mana, reflecting the harsh, mountainous terrain of the Mardu Horde's territory.
The artwork for this piece was created by the illustrator Eytan Zana. Zana aimed to evoke the rugged and militaristic atmosphere of the Mardu clan, depicting a desolate, fortified encampment carved directly into the rocky landscape.
