Omniclown Colossus // Pie-roclasm

Omniclown Colossus // Pie-roclasm was released in 2022 as part of the Unfinity set, the fourth standalone expansion in Wizards of the Coast's Un- series. Designed for casual play and draft environments, the card embodies the set's retro-futuristic, carnival-inspired aesthetic, blending sci-fi themes with the whimsical, often chaotic humor characteristic of the series. The double-faced card mechanic was utilized here to represent a thematic transformation, leaning into the set’s focus on top-down design and interactive, fun-first mechanics that deviate from standard Magic: The Gathering competitive rules.

The artwork and creative direction for this card reflect the work of the Wizards of the Coast internal creative team, who sought to capture a 'spooky-circus' atmosphere that felt both nostalgic and alien. By utilizing the pie-throwing trope as a literal, damaging spell, the card highlights the set's commitment to self-referential comedy and absurdist fantasy. Upon release, it was well-received by fans of Un-sets for its creative use of the double-faced card layout and its role in encouraging lighter, social gameplay experiences.
