Ooze

The Ooze token, designated as collector number 17 in the Planechase Anthology Tokens set, was produced by Wizards of the Coast as a supplemental accessory for the 2016 release of the Planechase Anthology box set. These tokens are designed to represent creatures generated by various spells and abilities during gameplay, specifically functioning as the manifestation of the Ooze creatures created by cards such as The Mimeoplasm. The set was created to provide players with a comprehensive, cohesive collection of support materials necessary for the four classic multiplayer decks included in the anthology, ensuring that mechanical interactions remained clear and functional during the complex, plane-hopping format.

The aesthetic of this token adheres to the modern visual standards established for Magic: The Gathering creature tokens, focusing on a high-fantasy, grotesque design that reflects the amorphous nature of the creature type. Like other tokens in the anthology series, the card features a standard frame and distinct artwork intended to be easily identifiable on the table during rapid gameplay sessions. While specific artist credits for individual tokens within the anthology are often consolidated under the set's production team, the illustration captures the visceral, gelatinous quality expected of the Ooze type, emphasizing a dark, swamp-like color palette to differentiate it from other board states.
