Ooze

The Ooze token, numbered 16 in the Planechase Anthology set released in 2016, serves as a functional game piece for Magic: The Gathering. These tokens were designed to represent specific creatures created by card effects—most notably the various Ooze-themed cards that produce creature tokens based on power and toughness metrics. The release of the Planechase Anthology allowed Wizards of the Coast to curate and reprint classic Planechase content, ensuring that players had standardized, official physical representations for the game's mechanics.

The artistic direction for this token follows the established visual language of the game’s modern era, focusing on the gelatinous, amorphous, and often bioluminescent aesthetic associated with Oozes in the Multiverse. Like many supplemental tokens in the anthology, it was produced to be a utilitarian yet thematic aid for players navigating complex board states. While individual artists often contribute to these sets, the tokens in this anthology are recognized for maintaining a consistent, high-fidelity art style that aligns with the broader Planechase visual identity.
