Orzhov Guildgate

The Orzhov Guildgate, originally appearing in the Return to Ravnica set, represents the ecclesiastical and financial backbone of the Orzhov Syndicate, a guild that functions as both a church and a crime syndicate. This specific printing from Commander 2017 was included as part of a preconstructed deck, serving as a functional land card that provides mana versatility for players utilizing the Orzhov color identity of white and black. Its inclusion in Commander sets allows players to stabilize their mana bases while maintaining the thematic consistency of the Ravnica plane.

The card’s visual design is the work of artist Noah Bradley, who captures the imposing, gothic architectural style synonymous with the Orzhov. The art features the high-arched, fortress-like gates of the Syndicate, rendered in the dark, opulent aesthetic that defines the guild's presence in the city of Ravnica. The design successfully communicates the dual nature of the guild, blending religious grandeur with the oppressive, predatory nature of its leadership, and it has remained a staple utility card for players building multi-colored decks within the Commander format.
