What it does
As long as this creature is equipped, it has first strike and lifelink. (It deals combat damage before creatures without first strike. Damage dealt by it also causes you to gain that much life.)
Left without their leader Raksha, the leonin split into two prides: one side supported the regent kha, while the other rebelled in fury.

Where it came from
Sunspear Shikari was printed in the Commander 2017 set, which focused on tribal synergies across various creature types. Specifically, this card appeared in the Feline Ferocity deck, an edition designed to capitalize on the fan-requested Cat tribal theme. The card serves as a mechanical enabler for equipment-heavy strategies, reflecting the agile and opportunistic nature of the creature type within the game's mechanics.
The card features illustration by Johann Bodin, who rendered the leonin warrior with a focus on its signature weapon and combat-ready posture. By emphasizing the character's mastery over equipment, the design reinforces the set's goal of integrating distinct tribal identities with artifacts. It was received as a functional, low-cost utility piece that remains a staple for players building deck lists centered around feline synergies or equipment-based Voltron strategies.
