Provenance

Where it came from

Overrun was originally printed in the 1997 base set Tempest, designed by Mike Elliott as an aggressive green sorcery that serves as a classic game-ender. It encapsulates the 'stompy' philosophy of green magic, providing a massive boost to creatures to swing for a winning blow. Its inclusion in the 2016 Conspiracy: Take the Crown set was part of a broader effort to provide reliable, high-impact gameplay elements in a draft-focused multiplayer environment.

The illustration for this specific printing, created by artist Kev Walker, maintains the series' long-standing tradition of depicting a stampede of aggressive creatures rushing into combat. Walker’s dynamic, visceral style aligns with the card’s function, emphasizing momentum and overwhelming force. Within the context of the Conspiracy set, the card was lauded for its utility in limited formats, where players rely on such reliable finishers to break the stalemates common in multiplayer matches.
