Where it came from
Overwhelming Stampede was originally printed in the Magic: The Gathering set Magic 2010. It was later reprinted as part of the Modern Masters 2015 set, released in May 2015. This set was designed as a limited-run compilation intended to introduce modern-era cards to the draft environment, offering players access to powerful staples that had previously become difficult to acquire on the secondary market.
The card's artwork, illustrated by Matt Cavotta, depicts a dramatic, chaotic surge of creatures, effectively capturing the mechanical essence of the card: granting a massive power and toughness boost based on your strongest creature. Within the Modern Masters 2015 environment, the card served as a high-impact finisher, rewarding players who had successfully built a board presence in green-aligned strategies.
