Pariah

Pariah was first introduced to the Magic: The Gathering card game in the Urza's Destiny expansion in 1999, later appearing in the Seventh Edition core set as a white enchantment. The card was designed to embody the flavor of a social outcast or scapegoat, translating this narrative concept into a mechanic that forces the player to redirect all incoming damage from themselves to the enchanted creature. This design reflects the game's shift toward more interactive and flavorful board states during the late 1990s.

The artwork for the Seventh Edition printing of Pariah was illustrated by Donato Giancola.
