Path to the World Tree // Path to the World Tree

The Path to the World Tree art card was released as part of the Kaldheim Art Series in 2021, a collection designed to highlight the illustrative talent behind the Wizards of the Coast trading card game. These cards are non-gameplay promotional items, serving as high-quality, frame-less reproductions of the digital paintings used for the main set. They were included in set boosters to allow collectors to appreciate the complex Norse-inspired aesthetics of the Kaldheim plane without the interference of rules text.

The original illustration for this card was created by artist Titus Lunter. Lunter’s design captures the ethereal and vast scope of the World Tree, Yggdrasil, which serves as the central pillar of the Kaldheim cosmology. His work was lauded for its striking use of scale and atmospheric lighting, effectively conveying the mythological significance of the tree as a conduit between the ten realms of the set. Upon its release, the art series was well received by the community for elevating the visual artistry of the game into a format better suited for display.
