Pearl Medallion // Pearl Medallion

The Pearl Medallion card from the Modern Horizons 3 Art Series was released in 2024 as part of a specialized collection celebrating the visual heritage of Magic: The Gathering. These cards serve as high-quality, frame-less art prints rather than playable game pieces, designed to highlight the intricate illustrations commissioned for the Modern Horizons 3 expansion. By decoupling the artwork from the text-heavy card frame, the set offers fans a focused look at the aesthetic development and stylistic evolution that characterizes the modern era of the game.

The artwork for this specific entry is a collaborative effort between the artist and Wizards of the Coast’s creative team, aiming to revitalize the classic Pearl Medallion motif with updated visual fidelity and atmospheric depth. As part of a series curated to honor iconic artifacts from Magic's history, the illustration seeks to balance nostalgic recognition with contemporary digital painting techniques. Since its release, the Art Series has been well-received by collectors who value the intersection of tabletop gaming culture and fantasy illustration, providing a dedicated format for showcasing artist talent.
