Phage the Untouchable originally debuted in the 2003 Magic: The Gathering set Legions, representing one of the most feared legends in the game’s lore. This specific printing comes from the 2014 Conspiracy expansion, a set designed primarily for draft-style multiplayer play. The card was reimagined with new artwork by Mathias Kollros, who leaned into the character’s lethal, necrotic aesthetic to emphasize her status as a plague-bearing deity.

The character of Phage was born from the fusion of the hero Jeska and the parasitic entity known as the Mirari, a central plot point in the Odyssey and Onslaught blocks. Her game mechanics, which cause an immediate loss of the game upon dealing combat damage, were intentionally designed to be high-risk and high-reward. The Conspiracy printing provided players a way to acquire this iconic powerhouse in a set focused on social gameplay, where her volatile presence significantly alters the tension of a multiplayer board.
