Where it came from
Plargg and Nassari were released in 2023 as part of the 'March of the Machine: The Aftermath' set, an epilogue expansion designed to explore the narrative fallout of the Phyrexian invasion across the Magic: The Gathering multiverse. The card serves as a mechanical and lore-focused representation of the Dean of Chaos and the Dean of Perfection from the Strixhaven School of Mages, illustrating their newfound alliance in the wake of the planar conflict.
The card was illustrated by Victor Adame Minguez, who utilized a dynamic composition to showcase the contrasting magical disciplines of the two figures. Within the game's competitive landscape, the card was received as a versatile red-white engine that rewards players for casting spells from the top of their library, fitting into commander archetypes that focus on impulse-draw mechanics and aggressive spellcasting.
