Where it came from
Poppet Stitcher // Poppet Factory was released as part of the Magic: The Gathering set Innistrad: Midnight Hunt in 2021. The card leans into the gothic horror aesthetic of the plane, depicting a mad scientist utilizing necrotic energy to animate plush constructs. It functions as a double-faced card, a staple mechanic for the set that represents the transformation of characters or locations under the influence of Innistrad's eerie cycle of day and night.
The artwork for the card was created by artist Igor Kieryluk, who utilized a muted, dark color palette to emphasize the unsettling nature of the character's craft. The design focuses on the juxtaposition between the whimsical appearance of the 'poppets' and the grim, industrial setting of the factory. Upon its release, the card was well-received by players for its synergy within zombie-themed deck archetypes and its contribution to the set's immersive, immersive storytelling.
