What it does
Each player puts a vow counter on a creature they control and sacrifices the rest. Each of those creatures can't attack you or planeswalkers you control for as long as it has a vow counter on it.
And so was born the Fantastic Four! And from that moment on, the world would never again be the same!

Where it came from
Promise of Loyalty was released in 2024 as part of the Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair x Marvel Super Heroes Commander deck series. Designed to integrate the iconic aesthetic of Marvel comics into the mechanics of the Commander format, the card reflects the publisher's long-standing history of heroic storytelling. The artwork captures a pivotal narrative moment, blending the high-stakes drama typical of superhero narratives with the strategic gameplay requirements of a multi-player trading card game.
The card was developed through a collaboration between Wizards of the Coast and Marvel, aimed at expanding the reach of the Magic: The Gathering franchise through high-profile pop culture crossovers. The design team sought to evoke the visual style of classic comic book panels, utilizing saturated color palettes and dynamic line work to appeal to both long-time players and fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Its release was met with significant attention from the hobby community, serving as a distinct example of modern collaborative card design.
