Provenance

Where it came from

Propaganda was released in 2024 as part of the Magic: The Gathering Universes Beyond set featuring the Assassin's Creed franchise. This card is a reprint of a classic Magic card, reimagined with thematic art that captures the essence of the stealth-based gameplay integral to the video game series. It was designed to provide players with a functional defensive tool that mirrors the social and political maneuvering seen throughout the centuries-long conflict between the Assassins and the Templars.

The artwork for this particular version was commissioned to align with the aesthetic of the Assassin's Creed universe, emphasizing the clandestine nature of the Order. By stripping away the generic fantasy elements of the original card, the designers leaned into the historical architectural motifs and iconic imagery of the source material. It was well-received by fans of both the game series and Magic: The Gathering for its seamless integration of existing game mechanics into the franchise's visual narrative.
