Renewed Faith

Renewed Faith is a card originally printed in the Scourge expansion of Magic: The Gathering in 2003, but this specific iteration hails from the 2004 World Championship Decks. These decks were produced as a commemorative product, allowing players to purchase exact replicas of the card lists used by the top eight professional players during the 2004 World Championship event held in San Francisco. The card itself was designed to offer players a versatile defensive option, functioning either as a cycle piece to refine a hand or as a sudden source of life gain during critical combat phases.

The artwork for the card, illustrated by Kev Walker, captures a moment of spiritual tranquility that contrasts with the intense, aggressive nature of the set's broader themes. Walker, a long-time contributor to the game, utilized a high-contrast style that became a hallmark of the era's visual identity. Within the competitive community, the card was respected for its utility in control-oriented decks, and its inclusion in the 2004 World Championship product served to highlight its efficacy in high-level tournament play rather than the typical expansion-driven hype.
