Resplendent Marshal // Resplendent Marshal

The Resplendent Marshal art card was released as part of the Kaldheim Art Series, a collection introduced by Wizards of the Coast to showcase the expanded illustrative work featured in the 2021 Magic: The Gathering expansion, Kaldheim. The set draws heavy inspiration from Norse mythology, aiming to capture the atmosphere of a realm defined by frozen landscapes and epic sagas. These cards were designed to be collectible pieces that isolate the artwork from the functional game text, allowing the visual language of the set to stand alone.

The illustration for Resplendent Marshal was created by artist Titus Lunter. Lunter’s design intent focused on embodying the fierce, Valkyrie-inspired aesthetic characteristic of the plane, using a palette that emphasizes the interplay between divine radiance and the harsh, icy environment of the setting. Upon its release, the card was well-received by fans of the game's art direction for its strong composition and its ability to represent the thematic core of the Kaldheim release.
