Provenance

Where it came from

The Restart Sequence card is part of the Assassin's Creed Art Series, a specialized sub-set released by Wizards of the Coast in 2024 as part of their Magic: The Gathering crossover set. These cards were designed to highlight the rich visual history of the Assassin's Creed franchise, emphasizing the conceptual transitions and digital aesthetic themes found within the Animus, the series' hallmark framing device.

The art features a sleek, minimalist composition intended to reflect the glitch-like visual transitions players experience when entering or exiting simulated memories. By stripping away the dense character portraits common in other parts of the set, the illustrators focused on the abstract, high-tech interface motifs that define the franchise's science fiction elements, garnering appreciation for its departure from standard fantasy card art styles.
