Where it came from
Restoration Seminar was released in 2021 as part of the Strixhaven: School of Mages expansion for Magic: The Gathering. The card was designed for the Silverquill college, one of the five distinct houses at the Strixhaven University, which emphasizes a blend of black and white mana to focus on themes of social status, manipulation, and the restoration of order.
The artwork was created by illustrator Matt Stewart, who sought to capture the academic, high-fantasy aesthetic of the institution. Within the game's mechanics, the card functions as an uncommon-rarity support piece, reflecting the set's broader design goal of encouraging recursive play styles and graveyard interaction, a hallmark of the Silverquill play identity.
