Where it came from
Restoration Seminar was released as part of the 2021 Magic: The Gathering set Secrets of Strixhaven, a supplemental product tied to the broader Strixhaven: School of Mages expansion. The set was designed to lean into the collegiate, scholarly aesthetic of the central plane, with the card itself functioning as a representation of academic recovery and the restorative magic practiced by the institution's students.
The artwork was illustrated by Magali Villeneuve, a prominent artist in the franchise known for her clean lines and focus on human expression. Her work on this piece emphasizes the collaborative, ritualistic atmosphere of Strixhaven, capturing a quiet moment of arcane study. Upon release, the card was received as a functional utility piece for Limited formats, noted by players for its thematic consistency with the set's cycle of spells.
