Where it came from
Revival of the Ancestors was released as part of the Dragonstorm promotional series for the Magic: The Gathering expansion set Khans of Tarkir. This specific card was distributed as a participation reward at localized gaming events intended to celebrate the release of the set and immerse players in the flavor of the Abzan Houses, a faction defined by their reverence for ancestral spirits and survival in harsh desert conditions.
The artwork for this particular promotional variant was crafted to highlight the ethereal, meditative aesthetic of the Abzan culture. While the standard card art focuses on the tactical reality of the battlefield, this version emphasizes the spiritual connection central to the card's theme of card recursion from the graveyard. It was well-received by players for its unique frame and foil treatment, which marked it as a desirable item for those looking to customize their decks with thematic flair.
