Roar of the Wurm

Roar of the Wurm was originally printed as a rare card in the 2001 Odyssey expansion for Magic: The Gathering. Designed by Mike Elliott, it introduced the flashback mechanic, a hallmark of the set that allowed players to cast spells a second time from their graveyard. Its design sought to create value by providing two large creature tokens for the cost of one card, making it a powerful resource in competitive play during its initial release.

The version from The List, labeled as DDS-49, is a reprint included in the curated selection of cards Wizards of the Coast inserts into modern booster packs. This initiative was designed to increase the accessibility of older, historically significant cards for players and collectors. While the mechanics remain identical to the original, this version features the modern card frame and the small planeswalker symbol in the bottom-left corner that identifies it as a direct reprint rather than an original print from Odyssey.
