Rubble Rouser

Rubble Rouser was introduced in the 2021 Magic: The Gathering set Secrets of Strixhaven, a block centered on a magical university setting split into five distinctive colleges. As a card depicting the chaotic energy of the Lorehold College—a group defined by their study of history and archaeological exploration—it serves as a representation of the set's red-aligned mechanics. It was designed to emphasize the theme of active discovery and the sudden, destructive power often associated with excavations gone wrong.

The artwork, illustrated by Billy Christian, captures the dynamic movement of the creature as it interacts with the ancient ruins of the campus. In the context of the game's competitive environment, the card was integrated into the limited and standard formats as a mid-tier aggressive creature. Players and critics noted its utility in archetypes that focus on maintaining a board presence while utilizing the graveyard, fitting neatly into the broader mechanical identity established by the Strixhaven design team.
