Rubinia Soulsinger

Rubinia Soulsinger was released in the 1994 Chronicles expansion for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. As a set, Chronicles functioned as a reprint collection designed to increase the availability of rare and iconic cards from the game's earliest years, specifically drawing from sets like Legends, Antiquities, and Arabian Nights. The card itself was originally printed in the 1994 Legends expansion, representing one of the game's early attempts to explore complex multi-colored creature mechanics that allowed players to control their opponent's creatures.

The card was illustrated by Melissa A. Benson, a prominent artist during the formative years of the game whose work is noted for its distinct, painterly fantasy style. The design of Rubinia Soulsinger reflects the high-fantasy aesthetic characteristic of the mid-1990s, focusing on the character's ethereal nature and her ability to enchant or influence the battlefield. While the Chronicles release was controversial among collectors at the time due to its impact on the secondary market values of original printings, it remains a significant touchstone for players interested in the history and art of early Magic sets.
