Run Away Together

Run Away Together first appeared as part of the Battlebond expansion, a set released in 2018 designed specifically for the Two-Headed Giant multiplayer format. The card represents a departure from traditional competitive staples, focusing instead on the social and collaborative mechanics that define the Two-Headed Giant experience. Its inclusion in 'The List'—a rotating selection of cards from Magic: The Gathering's history curated by Wizards of the Coast for inclusion in Set Boosters—serves to reintroduce players to niche utility cards that might have been overlooked during their initial print run.

The art, illustrated by Magali Villeneuve, captures an intimate and thematic moment that aligns with the card's gameplay function of shared resources and cooperative movement. Villeneuve is well-regarded for her emotive character work and painterly style, which she utilized here to emphasize the bond between the two depicted figures. The card was well-received by players interested in flavor-forward designs and those who frequent the Commander format, where the ability to interact with teammates provides significant strategic value in larger group play.
