Sacred Peaks

Sacred Peaks was released in 2022 as part of the Dominaria United set, a pivotal expansion in Magic: The Gathering that celebrated the game’s thirtieth anniversary by returning to the iconic plane of Dominaria. As a common dual land, it serves the mechanical function of providing players access to two colors of mana, Red and White, while entering the battlefield tapped. This design reflects the set's focus on accessibility for Limited formats, where such foundational cards are essential for smoothing out the color consistency of deck building during drafts and sealed play.

The card’s visual identity is the work of artist Johannes Voss, who utilized the set's nostalgic theme to depict the rugged, mountainous landscape characteristic of the plane. Voss aimed to capture the epic scale and ethereal quality of the Dominarian geography, employing a vibrant color palette that balances the warmth of the peaks with the cooling light of the sky. Upon its release, the card was received as a reliable and aesthetically pleasing staple, celebrated by players for its classic utility and the way it evokes the long-standing lore of the Magic multiverse.
