Salt Marsh

Salt Marsh was originally introduced in the Invasion expansion for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game, released in late 2000. It belongs to a cycle of 'tapped' dual lands that provide players with a choice between two specific mana colors, in this case, blue and black. These lands were designed to support multicolored deck strategies during a period when the game emphasized thematic variety and complex mana bases, allowing players to bridge the gap between distinct color identities at the cost of entering the battlefield tapped.

The 2002 World Championship Decks version serves as a tournament-themed reprint, reproducing the card as it appeared in competitive play during the 2002 season. Jerry Tiritilli’s illustration depicts a brooding, misty wetland that captures the somber aesthetic of the Dimir-aligned color pair. These championship decks were released as boxed sets, providing fans with replicas of the high-level strategies used by top competitors, and remain a hallmark of the game's shift toward professionalized, accessible meta-game study.
