Where it came from
Seal from Existence was released in 2023 as part of the March of the Machine set for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. The set depicted a multiversal invasion by the Phyrexians, and the card was designed to represent the white mana color identity's capability for temporary removal or 'exiling' of permanent threats during this chaotic storyline.
The card features artwork by illustrator Johannes Voss, who utilized his signature ethereal and luminous style to depict a mystical barrier. The design reflects the visual aesthetic of the set's high-fantasy conflict, aiming to convey a sense of divine or magical containment that fits the tactical utility of enchantment-based removal in the game.
